Search engine and social media marketing agency employees utilize quarterly volunteer day to help public education-focused nonprofit.

Portland, OR, December 22, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Formic Media, Inc., a search engine and social media marketing agency, contributed a volunteer day at Schoolhouse Supplies. Schoolhouse Supplies, located on the Madison High School campus in NE Portland, is a nonprofit supporting public education in Portland and beyond.

Schoolhouse Supplies operates a “free store” stocked with supplies donated by the community for teachers and students. Volunteers such as the Formic team work to unpack and organize the school materials, ensuring that local students will head into the New Year with the tools and resources they need to learn and achieve.

“Each quarter, the Formic team looks for ways to help out the local community. it’s very important to give back,” said John McPhee, Vice President of Formic. “It’s part of our company culture here at Formic. It gives the team a chance to bond while at the same time helping local charitable organizations achieve their goals.”

This participation marks Formic Media’s second quarterly Volunteer Day. Formic has previously provided quarterly cash donations to a charity of the company’s choosing in addition to choosing an annual Charity of Choice which receives $12,000 worth of pro bono SEM services for an entire year. Formic Media is excited to maintain its quarterly volunteer day in addition to giving back to an annual Charity of Choice organization. Formic is committed to enhancing its engagement with the Portland community.

“Schoolhouse Supplies is honored to have the support of the Formic Media team, especially during such a critical time of year,” said Jen Barth, Executive Director. “The passion and enthusiasm we witnessed when working with John and his team is a great example of the huge impact that a small group of passionate people can make when they put their minds to it.”

The Formic Media team contributed 18 hours of impactful service. Team members even stumbled across a number of nostalgic books and flash cards in addition to other useful supplies for students. Formic was pleased to learn that this week the mound of donations they sifted through and helped unpack & sort have already been placed on the shelves in the free store for educators.
