“Starlight” from Past for the Future: Reflections Published by Outskirts Press

Poet Annie K. Koshi’s collection of cross-cultural and cross-gender poems addresses ethnic and feminist issues with an eye toward living better tomorrows by forgiving our yesterdays, though not always forgetting.

New York, NY, January 04, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Poet, professor, and author Annie K. Koshi announced today the release of Reflections, A Woman’s Journey through Life Experiences, published by Outskirts press. Koshi’s poems from different emotional phases of her life are the disclosures and confessions of her living a heroic life, always fighting to win and succeed without surrendering, when emotional pain entered her life.

“I don’t claim that my story is unique in any way,” she writes in her introduction. “It could be the story of many of those who read my poems…it could be some ‘starlight’ to follow and be guided through.”

Koshi’s well-crafted verse is a voice to be heard across genders and cultural and ethnic groups. The key tone throughout her poetry, namely, positive thinking, change, hope, faith, and forgiving will resonate to many audiences. Although specific moments from her Asian-Indian background--with the understandable inhibitions born from being dark skinned and dreading her bleak future in the traditional arranged marriage culture she was born into--are unique to her, the lessons and experiences she conveys allow any reader to share in moments of flashback and moments yet to be looked forward to.

Read the poems over and over; new meanings emerge, prompting, leading you to self examination and discoveries. Balanced, nutritional food for emotionally starved minds!
