Home Care Providers Connect with Long Term Care Insurance Prospects

Two of the nation's leading home care providers are connecting with consumers seeking long term care insurance information from the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance.

Los Angeles, CA, January 12, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Two of the nation's leading home health care providers have agreed to work with the national long term care insurance industry organization's outreach and consumer education effort.

"People mistakenly associate the term long term care insurance with care provided in a skilled nursing home setting but the majority of care is actually provided in the home setting," states Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, the national trade group that conducts ongoing research and implements consumer education and awareness campaigns on behalf of long term care insurance information.

According to the organization two of the nation's leading home care providers are supporting the Association's outreach efforts in 2013. "We are so pleased to have received commitments from Homewatch Caregivers and Right at Home which will enable us to make more consumers aware of the risk they and their families face," Slome explains. Banner ads from the two leading home care providers will help the companies reach the over 500,000 consumers who visit the AAKLTCI website annually. "Far too few Americans have any plan in place when it comes to long term care and as we like to say, a failure to plan is a plan for failure."

The Association's director notes that in 2011, some 50 percent of all new long term care insurance claims started were for care in the policyholder's home. "People today want to remain in their own home and they can when they have the funds or the insurance coverage to pay for care," Slome adds. "This is really the first generation of Americans where large numbers are facing the risk of needing long term care as the result of living a long life."

Most long term care insurance policies sold today offer comprehensive coverage including home care benefits as well as benefits should there be a qualifying nursing home stay. The Association plans several studies related to home care services which will be added to the organization's website as part of the ongoing consumer awareness efforts. Established in 1998, the Los Angeles, CA-based American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance is the national association serving insurance and financial professionals who provide long-term care financing solutions.
