Hal Leonard Teams with The Recording Academy® to Create Full Line of GRAMMY® Songbooks

New Hit-Packed Collections Gather Five Decade's Worth of Top Tunes by Year and Genre

Milwaukee, WI, January 18, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Hal Leonard has joined forces with The Recording Academy® and its world-renowned GRAMMY Awards® to create a full line of GRAMMY-branded songbook collections. The GRAMMY Award is recognized as the premier mark of excellence in recorded music worldwide, and Music’s Biggest Night® – the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards – takes place on Sunday, Feb. 10 on CBS.

Thanks to this new partnership, Hal Leonard will soon release a slew of new hit-packed, GRAMMY-branded collections to immortalize many GRAMMY-winning tunes over the years.

Fantastic new piano/vocal/guitar and E-Z Play® collections assemble the Song Of The Year and the Record Of The Year categories by decade. New compilations also give musicians many years’ worth of award-winning tunes in specific styles, such as country, R&B, pop, rock, and gospel.

The GRAMMYs also shine in new Hal Leonard Pro Vocal® volumes, which are ideal for musicians and non-musicians alike. Books in this series contain the lyrics, melody and chord symbols for Best Pop Vocal Performance award-winning songs, and the CDs feature demos for listening and separate backing tracks for singing along. The CDs are enhanced so Mac and PC users can adjust the recordings to any pitch without changing the tempo, to accommodate a range of voices. These packs for male and female vocalists are great fun for everyone from karaoke stars to serious singers.

The collections include informative material about The Recording Academy and the organization’s important year-round endeavors: MusiCares® provides a safety net of critical assistance for music people in times of need, and the GRAMMY Foundation® brings national attention to the value and impact of music and arts education, and the urgency of preserving our nation’s rich cultural heritage.

“We’re excited to be working with Hal Leonard to publish this line of GRAMMY songbooks,” said Recording Academy President/CEO Neil Portnow. “Bringing the GRAMMY brand to those learning to play and appreciate music is in keeping with our mission to celebrate music and the value of music education. And, these songbooks will of course bring hours of fun and entertainment to musicians and music lovers around the world.”

Hal Leonard President Larry Morton said, “The GRAMMYs are the best way our society has to encapsulate the musical tastes of an era. We are thrilled to be working with this storied organization to create lasting treasuries of literally some of the best songs of our time.”

Dozens of GRAMMY compilations will be off press by the end of the month in many Hal Leonard series, for players of various instruments and skill levels. With the GRAMMY awards now covering more than five decades of music, consumers can expect this brand to expand rapidly.
