Boulder, CO, January 19, 2013 --(PR.com
)-- In celebration of the 52nd anniversary of human spaceflight and Yuri Gagarin’s historic flight, Yuri’s Night and the We Want Our Future Initiative are pleased to announce their collaboration on a postcard contest for Yuri's Night 2013! We Want Our Future, a Yuri's Night partner, is a nationwide, student-run outreach project that uses art and education in challenging students to dream about what they want their future to look like – specifically with respect to space.
Join fellow space enthusiasts to inspire the next generation of space scientists, engineers, and explorers--and win prizes. To participate in the contest, visit local schools, youth groups, or other community groups and perform the We Want Our Future activity with the students. These students will learn about Yuri’s first flight into space and the achievements of the space industry since then. Using their artistic talents, the students will draw what they envision their future to be like in space. Then register your activity event at yurisnight.net and fill out the Yuri’s Night contest form at http://yur.is/UxBkvA. When registering, please mention that your event is a WWOF activity in the comments.
Your class or activity group will be entered to win a party pack of Yuri’s Night gear to throw a Yuri’s Night party in April 2013. Individual prizes for the best overall postcards in each age group will be awarded, as well as a Grand Prize of a sponsored Yuri’s Night party for the volunteer who hosts the best or greatest number of events. This sponsored party will include planning assistance, party materials, promotion, and a visit from a special guest.
For activity materials and further details about We Want Our Future, please visit WeWantOurFuture.org. All student entries submitted via email at info@WeWantOurFuture.org (400 dpi minimum) or postmarked between January 15th and March 15th will be eligible to win.
