Nazz (Featuring Stewkey) to Make Rare "one off" Concert Appearance in Massachusetts, August 17th

The legendary psych-pop band Nazz will perform a 'one off' concert in Massachusetts, marking the band's 40th anniversary.

Webster, MA, July 31, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The Night-Owl Music is proud to present for the first time, the legendary psych-pop band NAZZ. The band will make a rare 'one off' concert appearance on August 17th in Webster Massachusetts. The event will also mark the band's 40th anniversary.

Formed during the summer of 1967, Nazz (a term coined from a Yarbirds song entitled 'Nazz are Blue) rose out of the ashes of the Philadelphia bar band 'Woody's Truckstop' which included founding members Todd Rundgren (guitar) and Carson van Olsten (bass). The second half of the band was made up of drummer Thom Mooney, and Rhode Island vocalist 'Stewkey' who had arrived in the city by chance and misadventure.

Heralded as "the next big thing" on both sides of the Atlantic,
by 1969 the group had released three LPs and various singles including 'Hello it's Me' and the seminal psychedelic 'nugget' 'Open my Eyes'.

As the decade drew near to an end, so did the band. After Todd's departure the band continued, for a time to press on, making a notable appearance at the 'Texas International Pop Festival', however within a few months the original lineup had completely disintegrated.

In the late 1990's Stewkey reformed the band with an all new lineup of top class Philadelphia musicians. The singer, who had arrived in town by chance, had made a home there and has long been associated with Philly's rock-n-roll history. In recent years Nazz has performed a number of 'high profile' gigs in and around the city, such as the 'Philadelphia Thrills Show', 'Brotherly Love Festival' and more.

The special 'one night only' appearance in Webster Mass this coming August 17th will find Nazz ripping up the stage with a 'full throttle' setlist that will include their classic tunes as well as heavy new numbers. See them live and celebrate 'The Return of Nazzrock'.
