Spring Hill Middle School Students to Explore America’s Cultural Heritage Through Ethnic Dance Performances

Wisconsin Dells, WI, January 20, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Spring Hill Middle School’s Ethnic Dance Assembly performance is the outcome of a unique program that utilizes ethnic heritage dances of America’s various ethnic groups to deliver to deliver a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary learning experience to students. This dance program goes beyond traditional dance education for its own sake, as it combines dance with experiential education and healthy exercise and supplements classroom learning across multiple disciplines including history, geography, social studies, mathematics, art, music, health, nutrition and physical education. Students also have the opportunity to provide school and community service by performing what they’ve learned for school and neighborhood events, retirement communities, etc.

All events are open to the media. The public is invited to attend the Dance and Awards Assembly.

Testimonials:

“[the program] has the ability to motivate even the most difficult students. I have seen students who miss several days of school a week never miss a day that week. [the program] is embraced so warmly that we have added an 'alumni' dance… High school students want to relive the experience they had when they were in middle school.”

“As a social studies teacher, I appreciate that they [students] not only learn the dances, but also a little of the history and geography behind them… By the end of the week, the students are ready to flawlessly perform several dances for about 500 visitors.”
