Friends of Daniel J. Staackmann Announce Mayor as Guest Reader at Local School

Morton Grove, IL, January 25, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Friends of Daniel J. Staackmann announce that Morton Grove Mayor Daniel J. Staackmann was a guest reader at Madison Elementary School (School District 69) on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, as part of the D.E.A.R. (“Drop Everything and Read!”) program.

Mayor Staackmann read the book "Duck for President" by Doreen Cronin to students in Ms. Underwood's second grade class. The children had learned about elections and the voting process earlier in the year, and participated in a school-wide mock election in the fall. After reading, Mayor Staackmann fielded questions from the second-graders about his job as Morton Grove Village President.

Staackmann is currently completing his first four-year term as Mayor. He served two terms as Trustee on the Village Board. He also served on the Morton Grove Park Board for 16 years. In 2001, Staackmann was awarded the Illinois Association of Park Districts’ “Outstanding Board Member” award. He has also served as Board Member, Treasurer, and President for the Maine-Niles Special Recreation Association.

As a founding member of the Morton Grove Days Committee, Staackmann served as President of the organization. He is also past Treasurer of the Morton Grove Foundation, past Board Member of the Morton Grove Chamber of Commerce, and was honored in 1993 as “Man of the Year” by the Liponi Foundation. In addition, Staackmann is a member of the Morton Grove Moose Lodge, the Sons of the American Legion, and the Luxembourg Brotherhood. Staackmann is a life-long resident of the Village of Morton Grove.

Staackmann is running for re-election for the office of Village President. He is the only mayoral candidate endorsed by the Action Party of Morton Grove. He is also endorsed by the Illinois Committee for Honest Government and Fil-Am Morton Grove.
