Publishing Company ATP Growing Online Thanks to Flat Rock Technology

Air Transport Publications Ltd have transformed their print products into a full range of thorough and modern online magazines and channels featuring easy navigation, user-friendly layout and fresh “look and feel” appealing to its vast audience.

London, United Kingdom, January 31, 2013 --(PR.com)-- ATP’s purpose is to provide assertive and autonomous reports on the aviation market through a variety of sources, i.e. its popular print magazines, directories and newsletter. The ATP website, created to represent all these digitally, was developed by Flat Rock Technology and could be found at http://www.airtransportpubs.com.

What is interesting is that the website itself is split between magazine and channel pages. The magazine pages are linked to their current publications – MRO Management, MRO News Focus, Airline Cargo Management, Low Cost & Regional Airline Business and Aircraft Cabin Management. Each of those magazines has its own look and domain in order to keep its individuality, specific information style and be easily located by the interested parties.

In addition, the ATP website has been carefully developed to ensure smooth usability and best appearance as to match the expectations of clients and visitors alike. The content management system chosen to administer the website was Flat Rock’s own in-house developed and very successful Hydrogen CMS that provides all the functionalities and flexibility such a comprehensive and complex project needs and at the same time is simple enough to be used by anyone without technical knowledge.

The key features of the new system, whose main goal was to surpass the old one in a number of factors, are one administrative interface managing the content of all online magazines, design aimed to support multiple domains as the independent websites have different layout and colour schemes and an integration with the external banner system OpenX Ads. In addition, the system can implement specific rules for displaying banners (depending on position, size, etc.) as well as have channels functionality to allow content from different magazines to be merged and displayed as a separate stream of data.

"The ATP project was both challenging and intriguing. We needed to create a solution that answered the entire client’ requirements and encompassed all their services in a suitable for their industry way. We are happy to say that we are very pleased with the outcome and look forward to more exciting and complex projects of this kind," shared Pravoslav Milenkov, Flat Rock CTO.

To achieve all this Flat Rock utilized a range of resources and technologies. For the successful completion of the system, Flat Rock team of specialists used Symfony framework, Propel 1.4 ORM, PHP 5.4 as well as MySQL 5. Additionally, the client side technologies included JavaScript, jQuery library, AJAX and JSON. The front-end technologies featured HTML 5, CSS 3 and XML.

Flat Rock Technology is constantly trying to improve the user experience and offer the latest technologies to its clients. Its diverse projects include not just the development of websites and directories but also e-commerce, bespoke business software, mobile applications, digital marketing and many more.
