The Special Event Company Partners with The Who’s Roger Daltrey to Launch UK’s Teenage Cancer Trust

CEO Sally Webb And Rock Legend Hope to Change Lives with Expansion of United Kingdom’s Teen Cancer Trust

Research Triangle Park, NC, February 02, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Sally Webb, CSEP, CEO of The Special Event Company (http://www.specialeventco.com), a strategic event and meeting management company, along with The Who’s Roger Daltrey, recently managed the launch of Teen Cancer America, a charity devoted to improving the lives of teenagers and young adults with cancer in the United States. Daltrey and fellow bandmate Pete Townshend were inspired to create Teen Cancer America after nearly a decade of passionate service to the United Kingdom’s Teenage Cancer Trust. Having previously worked with Teenage Cancer Trust in the UK for the past seven years, Webb has been appointed to Teen Cancer America’s founding board. She will serve an integral role in guiding the charity and supporting national cancer awareness and education.

Through a strong commitment to Teen Cancer America, Webb aims to help ignite a movement that bridges the gap between cancer awareness and treatment, generating action on behalf of the teenagers fighting this disease. The Special Event Company demonstrated this commitment through the management of Teen Cancer America’s official launch at a National Press Club luncheon on Nov. 12. The sold-out event included an in-depth question and answer session with Daltrey and Townshend, as well as an emotional address from cancer survivor Sarah Sterner.

Quotes:
“Having worked with Roger for Teenage Cancer Trust in the UK, I have seen firsthand the dramatic difference our organization makes to both the quality of life and survival rates of the teens in our units,” said Webb. “I am delighted to be invited to join the board in the USA to help start the same movement here.”
