High Focus Centers Donates Chase Wilson Education’s Anti-Bullying Curriculum to Northern New Jersey School District

Bogota School District will receive a copy of Chase Wilson Education’s ground-breaking bullying prevention program – “The Building Blocks of HIB: Bullying Redefined,” donated by High Focus Centers

Park Ridge, NJ, February 06, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Chase Wilson Education is pleased to announce New Jersey-based High Focus Centers is sponsoring their comprehensive anti-bullying curriculum entitled: The Building Blocks of Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying (HIB): Bullying Redefined, which will be presented to Bogota School District in Bergen County, NJ. Bogota was one of a handful of school districts that applied to receive this program. All schools were asked to submit an evaluation form where they explained the specific need for anti-bullying education in their school and also indicated how they would utilize the program – should they receive it.

“High Focus Centers services and programs are designed for individuals with significant emotional or substance abuse problems who want to change the course of their lives,” said Barbara Shapiro, HFC’s Director of School and Community Relations. “Prevention is key,” she added, “and this curriculum – while focused primarily on bullying – includes tools and lessons that enhance and improve students’ overall self awareness and social-emotional coping skills. That’s why we were so eager to support it.” High Focus Centers have facilities throughout Central and Northern New Jersey, including treatment programs in Bergen, Union, Morris and Monmouth Counties.

The curriculum was developed and written by Chase Wilson Education’s Director of Educational Programs, Andrew Yeager, a NJ School Psychologist and Student Assistance Coordinator, who lectures extensively and conducts trainings on bullying and adolescent issues throughout the country.

“This program talks about redefining bullying, but it goes far beyond the issue,” said Yeager. “The lessons, strategies, and assessments in this curriculum are intended to promote greater civility and higher empathy amongst students. We’re working to re-frame the way students see the world – for the better.”

Bogota District’s School Assistance Counselor Lydia Gilbert will receive the curriculum directly and intends to implement its philosophy, lessons, and strategies throughout her district – maximizing its impact.
