A Penny Dreadful: a New Animated Series

Seattle animator and playwright kicks off production fundraiser for adventure drama about family, loss and the fantasies we create for ourselves.

Seattle, WA, February 08, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Animator, artist and playwright Josh Knisely is reaching out to the web to finish the pilot to his adventure‐drama A Penny Dreadful. His Kickstarter.com campaign to raise $35,000 begins Wednesday, January 30, 2013.

“When I first learned about Kickstarter, it was a revelation,” says Knisely, “Instead of trying to court studios, I could pitch directly to people who would love these characters as much as I do.”

A Penny Dreadful tells the story of orphaned brothers Neil and Arlo who are sent to live with their estranged aunt and uncle in a mountain town in rural Oregon. As their
relationship with their aunt and uncle goes awry, a box of old pirate comics opens up a world that becomes their new reality. A Penny Dreadful has a limited number of days to reach its funding goal. Knisely will have until Thursday, March 7 to raise $35,000.

With the script already written, the actors recorded, and the audio mixed, the money raised from the Kickstarter campaign will support production of a filmed storyboard and composition of a score.

A Penny Dreadful features the music of “Awesome” and stars Guy Nelson, Livia Scott and Becky Poole.
