Albeado Announces New Platform Promising Next Generation of IT and OT Integration for Smart Grids

Albeado’s PRISM for Utilities solution has promising correlation and risk management features enabling utility companies in their IT and OT integration. Compelling benefits include optimizing outage management, detecting fraud or reducing asset maintenance costs.

Saratoga, CA, February 08, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Albeado Inc. a Silicon Valley-based startup announced today their first production release of the flagship PRISM for Utilities platform. The software platform is targeted primarily for use in energy utility company environments as a flexible system that enables IT and Operational Technology (OT) integration. PRISM promises to bridge the gap that utilities face today in terms of handling and making sense of big data from their Smart Grid investments.

PRISM is able to monitor and correlate existing message flows non-intrusively along with new data from the Smart Grid. A simple intuitive interface helps in setting connections between interesting events giving operations teams the control knobs they require in minutes, eliminating the need for months of systems programming and related costs.

The system allows end users to set parameters and lets the software detect any anomalies based on sophisticated algorithms and proactively offers corrective solutions. In a typical utility environment where multiple systems are interlinked to deliver on a process, it is tough for humans to comprehend and detect these anomalies and PRISM fills in the void.

“Our patent pending technology helps operations teams analyze enormous volumes of data between OT and IT systems to reveal patterns that are most relevant to the business process,” adds Partha Datta Ray, CTO and co-founder of Albeado.

PRISM has been tested with the latest MultiSpeak control message standard and can be deployed out of the box in several modes that can listen to traffic by spanning existing network ports or as an Enterprise Bus.

By providing a flexible and open protocol approach to analyzing the data on the wire, PRISM for Utilities is suitable for deployments in multi-vendor networks. This is going to be a boon for utilities who have struggled to get a common management platform that can oversee their IT side and OT side systems through one pane. IT side infrastructure has been dominated by networking vendors such as Cisco, HP and others whereas the OT side is seeing a flood of new technology from vendors such as Itron, Siemens, Schieder Electric and ABB.

Principal Product Architect for Albeado Jeff Gray adds, "This brings a new level of clarity on how to make big data and machine learning consequential to your business". Jeff is an expert in the field of M2M, and has been associated with the platform design for the past two years.

The product will be on display at the TechAdvantage Conference and Expo in New Orleans later this month (booth #665, Feb 18-20, 2013). Albeado team will be demonstrating the solution with some advanced use cases around outage management, risk management, threat and vulnerability analysis.
