Public Opinion Sought on Town Upgrade

Margaret River, Australia, February 22, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Public opinion is sought for the upgrading of the Margaret River Town Centre, ahead of comprehensive design workshops scheduled for early next month.

The Town Centre upgrade is planned together with the construction of the Perimeter Road, which aims to reduce traffic safety risks and improve the walkability, accessibility, well-being and health of the town centre.

Around $0.5mn works have been identified that can be undertaken as part of the existing project ahead of the Perimeter Road plan.

Total funds worth $1.94mn include funding for the Perimeter Road plan as well as design, survey and phase one implementation works.

The original designs formulated by Hassell comprise water sensitive design, nighttime lighting, establishment of sidewalks via alfresco areas, more landscaping, street furniture and public artwork.

A roundabout is also planned at the junction of Wallcliffe Road, Forrest Avenue and Bussell Highway, but construction will depend on progress on Perimeter Road.

Copies of the reports and plans are available at the Augusta-Margaret River Shire's website or the project blog.

Written submissions can be sent to the project manager at Augusta-Margaret River Shire PO Box 61 Margaret River 6285, or emailed to records@amrshire.wa.gov.au

All submissions should be submitted by March 06th. Comments can also be publicly made on the project site.
