Royal Oaks Homes Serves as Lead Builder for Fourth Time in Operation: Coming Home V

North Carolina Homebuilder Participates in Groundbreaking for Project to Donate Custom-Built Home to Disabled Combat Veteran

Raleigh, NC, February 23, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Royal Oaks Homes, LLC (http://www.royaloakshomes.com), an award-winning residential new homebuilder, has announced that for the fourth time in five projects, it will serve as the lead builder for Operation: Coming Home, a nonprofit organization providing custom-built homes to disabled combat veterans and their families. A record crowd of invited guests and media attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the fifth Hero Home, held on Feb. 14 in Royal Oaks’ Forest Springs development in Holly Springs, N.C. The recipient of the home is U.S. Army Cpl. Cody Stanton, a Purple Heart recipient who lost both legs due to an IED explosion while serving in Kandahar, Afghanistan, in January 2012. Specially outfitted and wheelchair friendly, the new home will include a number of features designed to ensure easy accessibility to all rooms. The home is scheduled for completion in July 2013.

Operation: Coming Home is a joint volunteer project by the Triangle Veterans Association, Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County (HBA), the United States Veterans Corps and Royal Oaks Homes, among others. The project builds and donates homes for disabled combat veterans who have served in the Middle East, after a selection committee interviews candidates to determine the best fit. Since Operation: Coming Home started in 2007, Royal Oaks Homes has participated in the creation of all Hero Homes and served as lead builder for four houses, as well as taken part in the selection committee responsible for choosing the honored veteran.

Rich Van Tassel, president of Royal Oaks Homes, was among those who spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony. Other speakers included Tim Minton, board president of Operation: Coming Home and executive vice president of the Raleigh-Wake HBA; Dick Sears, mayor of Holly Springs; and representatives from the U.S. Army, including Cpl. Stanton’s platoon. Stanton and his family were in attendance, as were members of Operation: Coming Home, volunteers and project donors.

Quotes:
“We are honored and humbled to once again serve as the lead builder for Operation: Coming Home, a project that is near and dear to our hearts at Royal Oaks Homes,” said Van Tassel. “To see the look of joy and excitement on the faces of these deserving recipients and their families when they enter the homes we build for them is worth every bit of the time and hard labor our employees dedicate to this project year after year. This is our way of saying thanks to Cpl. Stanton for his service to our country, and we look forward to having his brand new home ready for him this summer.”
