Mispro Biotech Services Announces Partnership with The Hamner Institutes for Health Sciences

Preclinical experts open vivarium facility in Research Triangle Park

Research Triangle Park, NC, February 28, 2013 --(PR.com)-- On the eve of the CED Life Science Conference 2013 (Feb. 27-28), Mispro Biotech Services, a leading provider of multi-user vivarium space and remote husbandry services, and The Hamner Institutes for Health Sciences, a nonprofit research organization focused on translational safety sciences, have announced their partnership in Research Triangle Park, NC.

As part of this new partnership, Mispro now operates a 10,000 square-foot vivarium – its first in the region – at The Hamner Institutes. Mispro’s state-of-the-art animal husbandry facilities feature static or ventilated cages with in-room Class II biological safety cabinets, dedicated offices and procedure rooms, a quarantine facility, 24/7 access, environmental monitoring, animal import and export services, and protocol review by Mispro’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).

"A business with ‘service’ in its name"
Through its Contract Husbandry and Facility Management Service, Mispro can fully plan, build, and manage an organization’s animal husbandry needs so its researchers can focus on their science. What sets the company apart are its multi-user vivaria facilities that serve organizations and research projects of virtually any size. Since its establishment in 2003, Mispro has been fully accredited by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC) and has a solid track record of customer satisfaction and responsiveness. Mispro facilities are readily accessible to customers but have extensive measures in place to ensure physical and bio security that minimize exposure to disease.

“Ours is a business with ‘service’ in its name. We do whatever it takes to fit into a customer’s paradigm, rather than making them fit into ours,” said Richard H. Latt, DVM, president of Mispro Biotech Services. “Our commitment to accredited operations and customer flexibility is what makes us successful.”

Mispro collaborates closely with organizations like The Hamner Institutes and science real estate developers to operate its multi-user facilities. Through this partnership, Mispro can offer state-of-the-art animal care to pharmaceutical and biotech researchers in the heart of RTP, however large or small their population needs might be.

A partnership with a perfect fit
“Mispro has a solid and proven reputation for operating and managing vivaria, and we’re proud to be their partner in RTP,” added William Greenlee, PhD, President and CEO of The Hamner Institutes. “This partnership fits perfectly with our vision to create truly collaborative resource centers that will benefit all stakeholders in the region.”

Latt agreed that the timing, opportunity, and need for Mispro’s capabilities in RTP make the partnership with The Hamner Institutes a perfect fit.

“RTP is among the top regions in the U.S. for the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries,” he said. “As an established and reputable entity in RTP, The Hamner is an ideal partner for us.”
