Going for Gold Exclusive Video Highlights Bright Future for Paralympians

With the London Paralympics now here, award-winning London based video production company, The Production Zone, has produced a unique video to raise awareness of the new rules that will give elite athletes with Intellectual Disabilities the chance to compete on the world stage for the first time since Sydney 2000.

Leeds, United Kingdom, March 03, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Created to highlight the significance of the new Eligibility and Classification process, the video shows why being able to compete once again in the Paralympics is so important to athletes with Intellectual Disabilities.

Funded by the British Psychological Society, the video features interviews with three Paralympic hopefuls from the GB team as well as the Head of Eligibility at Inas and the Chief Executive of the UK Sports Association. There are also interviews with the Head Coach of the GB Team and Verona Elder MBE, the British, Commonwealth and European multi-medal winning athlete.

This powerful video conveys hope that people's attitudes about disability will change when athletes with Intellectual Disabilities are seen competing at such a high profile sporting event.

The video was predominantly filmed at the prestigious Inas World Indoor Athletics Championships at Sport City, Manchester, and now completed will be seen worldwide.

Professor Jan Burns, Head of Eligibility, Inas said, “We asked The Production Zone to work with us to produce a high quality video showcasing the work behind the inclusion of athletes with Intellectual Disabilities back into the Paralympics and they succeeded on all fronts. They are an excellent team to work with, showing a real enthusiasm, sensitivity and interest in the project, but also bringing to it a level of expertise and technical skill to create a fantastic video.”

David Felber, Producer/Director of the video and owner of The Production Zone said, "We are delighted to have been commissioned by Professor Burns at Canterbury Christ Church University to produce this important public engagement video about elite athletes with Intellectual Disabilities.
