U-Freight Opens Third Dedicated Logistics Warehouse in Hong Kong

U-Freight – www.ufreight.com - the Asia-based freight services group, has strengthened its operations in Hong Kong with the opening of a further dedicated, full-service logistics facility.

Hong Kong, China, August 08, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The facility is located in Yuen Long, close to the 4th border crossing between the Special Administrative Region and the People’s Republic of China. It will be operated by wholly-owned subsidiary, U-Freight Logistics, which was established in 2002 to provide full scale fully-customised logistics solutions and total supply chain management facilities.

One of three units available to U-Freight Logistics in Hong Kong, the 60,000 sq. ft. facility can be customised and modified to individual customer requirements.

The primary function of the warehouse is to provide cross-docking logistics services and temperature-controlled storage and distribution facilities. In addition, the warehouse serves as a CFS for oceanfreight handling and processing.

With two cargo lifts and enough racking for the storage of 1000 pallets over two floors, the facility can maintain ambient temperatures between 22 and 24 degrees C and relative humidity between 45 and 70%.

The new facility also has a state-of-the-art Electrostatic Discharge Protection (ESD) repacking room, which is very useful for U-Freight’s extensive client base within the electronics industry. Some of these customers require U-Freight to provide repacking services and these must be carried out under ESD conditions in order to maintain the quality of the components during the repacking process.

The new facility also boasts an array of features that meet the needs of customers involved in the manufacture, purchase and retail of garments and accessories. The warehouse is fitted with the most modern automated hanging garment rails, as well as carton conveyors and high-bay racking with appropriate order sorting and stock control systems.

Additional fashion logistics services offered by U-Freight from the new facility include sortation, storage, preparing orders for dispatch, kimballing, labeling and delivery worldwide. In addition, U-Freight will be providing direct services from the vendor to the retail outlet.

Within the new facility, U-Freight has installed the latest version of its proprietary Warehouse Operating System (WOS) giving customers total supply chain visibility. With a proven track record, WOS allows customers to avoid significant investment in capital and systems development. The latest version of WOS gives users a web-based operation and synchronises with wireless PDAs and tablet PCs.

Simon Wong, Chief Executive Officer of the U-Freight Group, said: “The outsourcing of logistics functions to specialist companies continues apace. By establishing a third dedicated logistics warehouse in Hong Kong,

U-Freight is in an enviable position to meet the needs of shippers engaged in transporting goods to and from this important region.

“Not only does this new facility add further value to U-Freight Logistics’ full range of services, it is an important development for shippers moving cargoes that are dependent on the regulation and maintenance of ambient temperature and control of atmospheric conditions, including hi-tech electronic components.

“For customers involved in the fashion sector, our new facility provides a very cost effective system for managing the flow of products from receipt of goods, through storage, picking, packing and dispatch.

“We are particularly keen to attract retail customers as we can provide a full service pick and pack operation from the point of origin to the final destination, with very competitive rates. Hong Kong is a retail paradise in close proximity to most of the vendors and suppliers in China. Our staff in Hong Kong adapt to change easily and are very flexible in meeting customer demands for value-added services.

“Continued investment in infrastructure, enables us to offer a range of niche freight services, as well as complete supply chain solutions and regular transportation services by road, rail, sea and air.”

In addition to the three logistics facilities in Hong Kong, U-Freight's network now extends to multiple facilities across the Special Administrative Region.
