DataArt Builds an Online Flight Auction Platform for FlyinAway

DataArt, a custom software development company that builds advanced solutions for select industries, today announced the completion of FlyinAway, the only travel company to combine membership benefits with consumer pricing control.

New York, NY, March 16, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Founded by travel industry and ecommerce insiders, FlyinAway is changing the game for travelers as it simplifies the process of purchasing affordable airline tickets. Through consumer-led auctions, FlyinAway allows members to take control of their travel: to initiate which routes go up for auction, bid on the price of the airfare, and select dates of travel. As a result, FlyinAway's members can receive up to 65% off of their flights.

FlyinAway engaged DataArt to develop a single page web application to provide users with access to flight auctions, enabling them to choose a route and dates of travel, and specify the price for an airline ticket.

DataArt built the front-end of the online auction, developed the application’s core, Web API, integrated No-SQL database with data access layer and with flight supplier data service. The average ticket price is determined through integration with, and analysis of, the ticket price database of one of the major U.S. airlines via an airline distribution technology platform. Integration with PayPal and Google maps/places allows users to pay for a winning bid and automatically define the nearest airports, respectively. Information about auctions is updated in real time and the user receives notifications if the auction state has been changed.

“DataArt’s technical team delivered a great product,” said Eric Lanier, Co-Founder and CEO at FlyinAway Travel Technologies, LLC. “The entire team was great to work with, with quality, professional individuals ready to embrace our philosophies as a company and a product, putting our members first when solving every problem.”

“FlyinAway impressed us with their niche offering and ability to convey complex requirements in a very tight timeline. Like in any partnership, we appreciated the strong communication from FlyinAway, and their flexibility for our ideas, which resulted in optimal approaches to solving more challenging tasks,” said Greg Abbott, SVP of Travel & Hospitality at DataArt. “Both teams look forward to another opportunity to work together, furthering the FlyinAway platform.”
