)-- William Peace University (http://www.peace.edu), a private four-year university located in downtown Raleigh, has announced that Justin G. Roy, Vice President of communications and marketing, was named a finalist for the 2012 International Brand Master award, sponsored by the Educational Marketing Group. An annual award recognizing top professionals, the International Brand Master honors marketing and communication employees of educational institutions who have developed exceptional skills and expertise in marketing, communications and brand management. Additionally, the award recognizes professionals who developed and led the institution’s brand throughout the fiscal calendar year.
After joining the institution in 2010, Roy played an integral role in the rebranding of Peace College into William Peace University. He focused on restructuring a brand that was publicly recognized as a women’s-only college for more than 150 years into William Peace University, a fully coeducational institution. Consistently emphasizing a fluid brand message that extends throughout the university and local community, Roy concentrated on communicating five key areas with prospective students – an emphasis on outcomes, faculty, location, and faith-based and transformational education.
“Leading an institution’s brand strategy is always an extensive undertaking, and the challenges increase tenfold when tasked with additionally revising a brand from women’s-only to coeducational,” said Debra M. Townsley, Ph.D., president of William Peace University. “Communicating the brand message to faculty, staff, current and prospective students, alumni, and the local community was critically important for our continuing success, and this achievement would have not been possible without the devotion, leadership and insight that Justin provided.”
