Raleigh, NC, April 10, 2013 --(PR.com
)-- Robert Weiss, artistic director and CEO of Carolina Ballet (http://www.carolinaballet.com), has announced that the company will present Fancy Free/Carolina Jamboree in two locations this spring. Fancy Free, the first ballet choreographed by Jerome Robbins, took New York City by storm, propelled Robbins to a household name and led to a life of work on Broadway. Fancy Free was so popular that it became the basis for the movie, On The Town, with Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly. The second half of the show, Carolina Jamboree, will feature choreography by Lynne Taylor-Corbett, the resident guest choreographer for Carolina Ballet, and music by The Red Clay Ramblers, a Chapel Hill, N.C.-based bluegrass band.
Carolina Ballet will present Fancy Free/Carolina Jamboree at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium (RMA) Thursday, April 18 through Sunday, April 21 and at Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC) Friday, April 26. The performance schedule is as follows:
- Thursday, April 18 at 8 p.m.
- Friday, April 19 at 8 p.m.
- Saturday, April 20 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.
- Sunday, April 21 at 2 p.m.
- Friday, April 26 at 8 p.m.
Tickets for Fancy Free/Carolina Jamboree may be purchased by calling the Carolina Ballet box office at (919) 719-0900, through Ticketmaster at (800) 982-2787, or at Carolina Ballet’s website, http://www.carolinaballet.com.
