Free Career Fair for Leeward Oahu Community Continues

The general public is invited to attend the 11th annual Career, College & Job Fair at Leeward Community College on April 11, 2013, from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. The event is free for the public.

Pearl City, HI, April 11, 2013 --(PR.com)-- This Thursday, the annual Career College and Job Fair will once again be featured on the Leeward Community College campus. The free event features over 90 businesses, programs and colleges, and takes place from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm on April 11, 2013.

Sandy Hoshino, Job Prep Coordinator, says the goal of the Fair is “to provide access to employment opportunities from local businesses and college programs,” noting that this has been the largest event of its kind in Leeward Oahu. Hoshino continues, “The CCJ Fair is in its eleventh year, providing a well-established venue for representatives and attendees.”

This year the Fair offers a free high school program to encourage students to plan now for their future endeavors. The program features a presentation about careers, financial aid and scholarships, as well as how best to approach recruiters at the Fair.

Many high school participants from Leeward Oahu will be able to attend the Fair at no cost to the school. The Leeward Community College Job Prep Services office and GEAR UP Hawaii are sponsoring bus transportation from Campbell, Castle, Kapolei, Leilehua, Mililani, Nanakuli, Pearl City and Radford High Schools. The Hawaii Army National Guard will provide refreshments for the approximately 500 high school attendees.

Begun in 2003, the Career, College & Job Fair has evolved into a single event combining the efforts of high schools, colleges, and employers on the Leeward Community College campus.
