School District of DeSoto County Selects JDL Technologies for $401,600 Network Update

DeSoto County School District has selected JDL Technologies to update its network as part of the E-Rate 16 initiative for the funding year July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014. JDL also provides network services for the School Board of Broward County and Miami-Dade County Public Schools in addition to The King’s Academy and other private schools in Florida.

Fort Lauderdale, FL, April 12, 2013 --(PR.com)-- JDL Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Communications Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ-GM: JCS), has been selected by the School District of DeSoto County to update its network through an extensive complement of networking hardware manufactured by Cisco. The School District operates elementary, middle and high schools in DeSoto County, located in the southwestern part of Central Florida.

Responses to the District’s Request for Proposal were evaluated on a points system to a maximum of 300 points awarded for cost, quality of goods and services, quality of proposal, meeting School District needs, vendor reputation and proximity. JDL Technologies serves information technology clients throughout Central Florida from its Tampa office as well as its Fort Lauderdale headquarters.

The network update project is part of the School District’s E-Rate 16 initiative for the funding year July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014. The E-Rate program began in 1998 to support the FCC order implementing the Telecommunications Act of 1996 ensuring that all eligible schools and libraries have affordable access to telecommunications and information services.

JDL Technologies has strong roots in Florida education, establishing and managing the network operations center for the School Board of Broward County for more than a decade, and deploying wireless networking for Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the fourth largest system in the nation.
