Julie Fowlis Performs Music of the Scottish Isles at Freedom Hall on April 20

Park Forest, IL, April 14, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Freedom Hall will present Julie Fowlis Music of the Scottish Isles on Saturday, April 20 at 7:30. Tickets are $28 for adults and $14 for children. Julie is known for her voice on the Disney-Pixar soundtrack “Brave” and has received several awards including "Gaelic Singer of the Year", "Album of the Year" at the Scots Trad Music Awards, and "BBC Radio 2 Folk Singer of the Year."

Julie is currently on BBC Alba TV. This is a new series presented by Julie and close friend Muireann NicAmhlaoibh. Singers and musicians from Ireland and Scotland gather in Glasgow for musical sessions which celebrate common bonds.

Brought up on North Uist in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides, Julie Fowlis has been a proud standard bearer for Gaelic music and culture over the course of a solo career which has spanned three highly acclaimed studio albums.

Julie has contributed to several BBC programs in her capacity as an artist and researcher in Gaelic song. She also co-presented the acclaimed BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards live from the Lowry, Manchester.
