Sacramento, CA, April 15, 2013 --(PR.com
)-- “Back Story,” Judith Foosaner’s solo exhibition of oil paintings, charcoal, oil and graphite drawings and charcoal, acrylic and paper collages opened at the Alex Bult Gallery on April 13th, 2013. The stunning black and white pieces evolved from a dark period in Foosaner’s working life.
“The path I’d been following for quite a while was no longer yielding new glimpses and I couldn’t find a way,” Foosaner said. “From years of working, both as an artist and an instructor, I understood that as long as you court experience, there can be no failure. When you work, you see. Watching what’s there as you flounder and sink provides you with new ways of seeing what you thought you saw before,” she continued.
The work that evolved will be on display through Saturday, May 4th, 2013.
Foosaner received a B.A. in English in 1964, and an M.A. in Art in 1968, from the University of California at Berkeley. Her artwork is collected by many fine museums, including: Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse, NY, The Shanghai Music Conservatory, Shanghai, China, The Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, The Oakland Museum, The Contemporary Museum, Honolulu, HI, The San Diego Fine Art Museum, San Diego, CA, and the Albuquerque Art Museum, Albuquerque, NM.
She has taught art at many institutions including the California College of Arts & Crafts, Oakland, CA, the University of California at Davis, the University of California, Berkeley, and the Wimbledon School of Art, London, England.
