Garden Party is Blooming Fun for Fundamental Learning Center
Fundamental Learning Center is having the party of the year at Wichita. Held at Botanica on May 10th from 6-10:30pm, this party will not only be fun but be huge help to those struggling with dyslexia.
Wichita, KS, April 20, 2013 --(PR.com)-- April showers bring May flowers for the 2013 Garden Party, benefitting Fundamental Learning Center. This annual fundraiser is taking Wichita by storm as the fete of the year for a great cause. The 2013 Garden Party will blossom on Friday, May 10 at Wichita’s Botanica Gardens, 701 North Amidon Avenue. Rain or shine, doors open at 6:00 p.m.
Teresa Grier, chairperson of the 2013 Garden Party, said this year’s Garden Party is the best yet, featuring live entertainment by the Fabulous Shirtheads. “This is a Wichita event that you cannot miss. It is bigger and better than ever.”
Grier said there will be a silent auction with items that were put together by Fundamental Learning Center’s own board members. Each board member put together what they envision to be the perfect Mother’s Day basket. The auction will be open from 6:00 p.m. until sundown. In addition to the perfect baskets, children who have benefitted from Fundamental Learning Center hand painted huge flowerpots that will be auctioned off.
“We have been asking our students to paint these one-of-a-kind flower pots every year for our Garden Party and they are consistently some of the most beautiful and highly coveted Mother’s Day items featured in our auction,” said Jeanine Phillips, executive director of Fundamental Learning Center.
Fundamental Learning Center has grown more than 40,000 young readers since the Center opened 13 years ago. Phillips said the Center’s annual fundraiser is a Garden Party to celebrate motherhood. “We celebrate motherhood at this annual event because many of the children in our center are here because of their mothers who are asserting themselves for the best education and ultimately the best future life for their kids.”
Tickets to the 2013 Garden Party, benefitting Fundamental Learning Center, are $75 per person, which includes entertainment in an idyllic setting of Botanica Gardens, a dinner buffet, and a signature cocktail. Corporate tables for eight are available for front-row, reserved seating. Call for details at 316.684.7323. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door on Friday night.
Fundamental Learning Center is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) educational resource center that provides a continuum of research-based instructional programs for teachers and parents as well as direct services for Kansas’ children experiencing difficulty in reading, writing and spelling. If you know of a child who is struggling with reading, small group summer classes are now forming at Fundamental Learning Center. “All children reading, all children succeeding” is the vision of Fundamental Learning Center.
