)-- Summer vacation to the Okefenokee region of Georgia offers a Beginning Digital Photography class on Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Comfort Suites in Waycross. The instructor and photographer, Jackie DeBusk, breaks down digital photography in easy-to-understand terms, providing a hands-on exercise with each explanation.
Participants will learn how to take their digital SLR and prosumer or bridge cameras off of auto and begin to creatively apply exposure, metering, and white balance settings, as well as learn about focus area, histograms, and principles of sound composition. Students take home a booklet and quick reference card to reinforce lessons.
If planning to stay in the area for a few days after class, students will find the region offers great scenery for applying newfound digital photography skills. Outdoor photography opportunities in Waycross include the Okefenokee Swamp Park and Laura S. Walker State Park, as well as a quaint downtown full of historic structures and the occasional locomotive.
Classroom space is limited to 25 participants; pre-registration and payment are required. The full day workshop begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. with allotted time for an independent lunch break. Several restaurants are nearby. Comfort Suites is located at 1922 Memorial Drive in Waycross.
