Campbell Law School Adjunct Faculty Members Recognized by N.C. State Bar

Board Of Legal Specialization Honors Judge John Tyson with the 2013 James E. Cross Jr. Leadership Award, and Evan Horwitz and Geeta Kapur as New Specialists

Raleigh, NC, May 01, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Campbell Law School (http://law.campbell.edu) has announced that three adjunct faculty members were recently recognized by the North Carolina State Bar during the Board of Legal Specialization’s Annual Luncheon & Awards Presentation.

Judge John Tyson was awarded the 2013 James E. Cross Jr. Leadership Award in recognition of his outstanding leadership as the only North Carolina judge who is board certified in Real Property Law. The award is presented to a certified specialist who has taken an active leadership role in his/her practice area through presentations at Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars, scholarly writings and participation in groundbreaking cases, or service to an established professional organization. A 1979 Campbell Law graduate, Judge Tyson is an emergency recall judge for the North Carolina Court of Appeals. He teaches Real Property Planning at Campbell Law, and although he could have claimed statutory judicial exemption from CLE requirements, he completed as many as 50 CLE credits per year while teaching.

In addition to Judge Tyson, Evan Horwitz and Geeta Kapur were recognized as new specialists. Horwitz, a 2001 Campbell Law graduate, is a specialist in Family Law and teaches Family Law Planning. Kapur, who teaches Race, Justice, and American Law, is a specialist in Criminal Juvenile Delinquency Law.

Quote:
“All of the members of the adjunct faculty at Campbell Law School are some of the top specialists in their field and they bring great expertise to the classroom and to our students,” said Interim Dean Keith Faulkner. “We are so proud of Judge Tyson, Evan and Geeta for their recognition from their peers at the N.C. State Bar.”
