Free eBooks on Buddhism for Buddha’s Birthday (May 17th)

San Jose, CA, May 14, 2013 --(PR.com)-- In celebration of Buddhas birthday or Vesak, the Buddhist Text Translation Society (BTTS) of California is giving away free ebooks on their newly launched website www.drba.org/btts.

(In East Asian countries Buddha's Birth is celebrated on the 8th day of the 4th month in the Chinese lunar calendar. In 2013, the date falls on May 17th of the Gregorian calendar.)

Free downloads include The Meditation Handbook , (http://btts.drba.org/meditation-hb.html) which illustrates the essence of meditation practice. Compiled by monastic disciples of Tripitaka Master Hsuan Hua, it was written by the American Reverend Heng Sure, PhD, director of the Berkeley Buddhist Monastery and the former Chin He Shi, a Spanish novice monk from Madrid and illustrated by Guo He, a Vietnamese novice and designed by Heng Lung, a Taiwanese Bhikshuni.

It also highlights Freedom Simplified, (http://btts.drba.org/freedom-simplified.html) a booklet which takes readers on a journey of discovery through their own minds as they are led to contemplate the web of their habitual tendencies, their desires, fears, and ego, as well as the relationship with their parents and the practice of true listening. It was compiled by Doug Powers, long-term disciple of the Master and current the provost of Dharma Realm Buddhist University.

In 1970 Master Hua of Manchuria, China (1918-1995) founded BTTS in San Francisco, California to bring the Buddhist Canon to all languages of the world, so that the Dharma could reach all beings equally, like rain drops on plants. To date BTTS has produced over 300 translated books and CDs in non-Chinese languages. Of these, approximately 230 are in English and they include sutras, commentaries, biographies, introductory material on Buddhism, talks on meditation, reference material, children’s books and gift books.
