Metal Bed Frames Are Back in Fashion

West Yorkshire, United Kingdom, May 14, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Every few years home decor trends change, and the bedroom is no exception.

This year metal bed frames sales are outstripping sales of any other kind of bed. The team at, one of the UK's biggest bed retailers, Bed Street have been kept busy sourcing new metal beds to meet this increasing demand.

Exactly why metal beds are growing in popularity is not clear. The last time they were as popular was the late 70s and early 80s. However, whilst the metal bed frames are back, the 1970s/80s home decor styles are not.

Some manufacturers think that the rising value of metal has played a role in the popularity of brass and other metals to decorate the home. People certainly appreciate a touch of luxury in the bedroom, so there may be something in this theory.

Metal looks good and it can be crafted to reflect and fit in with any style. It works well even in today's modernist homes. Thin minimalist frames in dark metal blend in well with this decor style.

However, not everyone decorates his or her home in a minimalist style. For some people their bedrooms are an oasis of softness, sprayed white metal frames work really well in this kind of room.

Brass is an old favourite that is also making a comeback. However, today's bed designers are using it in a different way. Gone are the thick round struts and tubes of traditional brass beds. Instead, today's brass beds are finer. However, the price of brass has led most manufacturers to offer brass-effect beds as well as beds made from solid brass. This has ensured that people can still afford to buy a metal bed even on a tight budget, which is another reason sales are so strong.

Sales of Fabric Beds are also Good
However, metal beds are not the only ones that are selling well. Sales of fabric beds, that first became available late in 2012, have also remained strong. People seem to like being able to buy a bed frame that is soft to the touch. Muted brown, grey and beige beds are the ones that are selling the best.
