Tim White-Sobieski: Stainless Steel and Light Sculptures in Palma de Mallorca

Palma de Mallorca, Spain, May 16, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Galeria Maior presents a multimedia installation by Tim White-Sobieski "Cold Forest" consisting of several mirror polished stainless steel sculptures with projected video compositions, full-color light-emitting diodes panels, and fiber-optics light installations, and a series of 24 photographs.

The current project is another example in the artist’s oeuvre of ideas in light and motion, space and scale, content and its meaning through various art mediums. The artist employs various multimedia sources for establishing a sacred space within his glowing photo-video-sculptural installation. Lights and projected videos are filmed in circle-shaped animated drawings, changing patterns and complexity with every moment.

Concentric light illumination is a key element in emphasizing every object within the installation. Every video and light source is precisely centered and concentrates on one sculpture at a time. The assembly of tree sculptures, which silhouettes sometime look like dragons or other mythical animals, is alike a crowd of people. Gathered together they are a unity but at the first place individuals with their own personalities and characters. These large scale steel figurines stand in light video circles. Each moment, each frame, changes it’s color, its shadows and reflections on surrounding walls and close by sculptures. Created effect reminds of a symphony played by many instruments, each with its own part and tone, but when united together they make a beautiful chorus of sounds – a light symphony.

In this art installation the artist creates his own world – digital Eden, a garden of Dreams, the symbolic expression of a whole individual’s universe in a limited space. It is a world based on ancient cannon but targeting moving into the future without condescending the past.

Behind the seeming complexity of the installation, there is a simple idea of a fragile and vulnerable soul of a young generation that cannot be contained like a bid in a cage; about the flight through a forest of life that can be cold and but that brightens up and awakes when the light is shed on it; it is about misery and grandeur of one one’s mind travel through life and light.

The artist’s new opus is thematically linked to his previous film and light projects “Deconstructed Reality” (2004), Awakening, (2005-2007), “Vertigo” (2005), “Nebulas”.(2007), and Visor’d (2008).
