Visions In Education Announces Their 2013 Student Writing Contest Winners

Visions In Education Charter School (Visions) is pleased to announce the winners of their 2013 student writing contest. The winning students were honored at Visions' professional development meeting on May 20, 2013, in Carmichael, California.

Carmichael, CA, May 23, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Visions In Education Charter School (Visions) and the Word Squad, Visions' online student writing publication blog, are pleased to announce the winners of their 2013 writing contest. These students were honored at Visions' professional development meeting on May 20, 2013, in Carmichael, California with certificates, Word Squad t-shirts, and $50 gift cards. More than 300 people attended the event. The theme to the contest was on essay on This I Believe. This I Believe is an international organization engaging people in writing and sharing essays describing the core values that guide their daily lives. The students also recorded their written submissions for audio podcasts that will be uploaded to the Word Squad blog.

Congratulations to these writers and to all seventy-five students who submitted their writing to the contest. This year's winners are: Nicholas Enders, second grade, teacher is Carrie Gafni; Isabel Patchin, 5th grade teacher is Olivia Johnston; Marcus Perry, 5th grade, teacher is Chris Sotelo; Mary Petrovich, 6th grade, teacher is Kathryn Melody; Shelby Pinkston, 6th grade, teacher is JeanAnn Walth; Clarice Scott, 8th grade, teacher is Brandy Carlenzoli; Magdelen Rath, 9th grade, teacher is Elise Hinkey; Radhika O'Conner, 9th grade, teacher is Jennifer Russell; Hannah Marshall, 10th grade, teacher is Deborah Costello; Laura Cummings, 11th grade, teacher is Elva Burlingham.
