Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Set to Commence Its Run at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane

London, United Kingdom, May 29, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Oscar Award winning Sam Mendes directorial, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is all set to commence its West End premier on 25th June, 2013 following long previews that will begin from 22nd May, 2013. The musical is based on Roald Dahl’s most famous children’s novel, has book by David Greig while additional songs are from Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. The musical will commence its run at West Ned’s oldest theatre venue, Theatre Royal Drury Lane.

The cast of the show include Douglas Hodge (Willy Wonka), Nigel Planer (Grandpa Joe), Clive Carter (Mr Salt), Jasna Ivir (Mrs Gloop), Paul J Medford (Mr Beauregarde), Iris Roberts (Mrs Teavee), Myra Sands (Grandma Georgina), Joe Allen, David Birch, Michelle Bishop, Mireia Mambo Bokele, Matthew Clark, Alex Clatworthy, Jennifer Davison, Luke Fetherston, Nia Fisher, Kate Graham, Clare Halse, Mark Iles, Daniel Ioannou, Kieran Jae, Jane McMurtrie, Natalie Moore-Williams, Sherrie Pennington, Damien Poole, Paul Saunders, Jack Shalloo and Jay Webb.

The design and costume for the show has been created by Marc Thompson, lightning by Paul Pyant, choreography by award winning Peter Darling, sound by Paul Arditti, while the musical has been produced by Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, Neal Street Productions and Kevin McCormick. The cast of the show is lead by Oscar Award winning Douglas Hodge.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is the story of young Charlie Bucket’s adventurous trip to the internationally acclaimed chocolate factory located in his hometown. He had envisaged this dream of visiting the Willy Wonks’ eccentric factory for long and the Golden Ticket that he won secured his passes for the same. Within the factory he witnessed an altogether a different world that was guarded by an army of squirrels and even had the Oompa Loopmas from the Loompaland.
