)-- Perle Systems, a global provider of advanced Ethernet over fiber and secure device networking solutions, today introduces PoE Ethernet Extenders. PoE Ethernet Extenders provide a way to expand Ethernet data transmission up to 10,000 feet over copper wiring and provide Power over Ethernet (PoE) to standards based PoE compliant devices.
“Security cameras, wireless access points and even VoIP phones are commonly needed where AC or DC power is unavailable. Think about ceilings, kiosks, light posts and pipelines,” said Al Davies, Director of Product Management at Perle Systems. “Perle PoE Ethernet Extenders enable you to not only to reach these devices, up to 10,000 feet away, but also to power them over single twisted pair, coax or any other existing copper wiring.”
Perle PoE Ethernet Extenders are the only VDSL- based Ethernet Extenders on the market that have a built-in Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) controller that is fully compliant with IEEE 802.3af standards. This means it can tell, through signature detection, whether or not an attached Ethernet device is PoE capable. Competitive PoE Ethernet Extender products operate as a simple passive power injector and always apply power to RJ45 port pins. This will result in severe damage if non-PoE compliant Ethernet devices are accidently connected. Therefore, Perle has the only offering where PoE and non-PoE devices can be safely attached to the Ethernet Extender.
In addition, Perle PoE Ethernet Extenders are fully compliant to operate as a Powered Device (PD) supporting end-span and mid-span power sources (PSE).
Perle offers over 130 models of Ethernet Copper Extenders that can operate in commercial grade or industrial grade (-40F to 167F / -40C to 75C) environments. All Perle Ethernet Extenders use high-end components and have an on-board microcontroller to deal with link error detection and recovery. Perle supplies a Lifetime Warranty on all Ethernet Copper Extenders.
