More affordable housing coming to Detroit community.

Detroit, MI, June 14, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Toledo-based general contractor, The Douglas Company, began construction of Penrose Village II this spring, in Detroit, Mich. The project is the second phase of the current Penrose Village community; a 36 home affordable housing community built by The Douglas Company in 2006.

Phase II of the project will see an additional 36 newly constructed homes at a contract value of $7.6 million and totaling nearly 47,900 square feet. The new townhouses will include amenities such as energy saving heating/cooling systems, washer/dryer units, full kitchens with appliances, full basements and detached garages. The development will also gain a community “farm.”These farms will allow residents to interact with nature, and each other, by encouraging planting of fruits and vegetables as well as their favorite flowers.

The Penrose Village II, owned by Penrose Village II Limited Dividend Housing Association Limited Partnership (LDHALP) continues a relationship with The Douglas Company that spans over 25+ years. The project is expected to be completed this coming fall.
