Calgary Rapper Writes Song to Benefit Flood Victims

Calgary, Canada, June 28, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Ryan Perez writes and produces “#letsbuild” in efforts to rebuild Calgary.

Following the severe flood that affected thousands of Calgarians, Ryan Perez, a local artist and musician wrote and produced a song to help fund-raise for families that have been directly impacted.

“#letsbuild” has already been released exclusively through the crowdfunding website, Indiegogo, where people can download the song in exchange for a donation. Visitors can donate as little as $1, or as much as they are willing to contribute. The song can also be heard for free via YouTube.

“I wrote this song because there are many families that will never recover from the flood. Many insurance companies will not even cover damages done to Calgarian homes. We need to all come together and restore our beautiful city,” Ryan says.

Perez, who happens to be a "Calgary Stampede Western Legacy Award" winner, knows all about bringing a community together. Over 10 years ago, Ryan was a troubled teen who turned his life around with the help of his community. He was mentored through music; which, has lead him to produce 2 albums that are currently on iTunes; he has worked with Ray Parker Jr., Martha Reeves, the Funk Brothers, "Friends" co-star Matthew Perry and Canadian pop singer Jully Black.

The phrase #letsbuild is a phrase often used by the “10-at-10 movement” that was created to promote positive hip hop, and create awareness for the hip hop community in Calgary.
