)-- San Diego Self Storage (SDSS) participated as a sponsor in the 5th Annual Police Officers Association (SDPOA) Golf Tournament on June 21, 2013, at the Riverwalk golf course in Mission Valley located in San Diego to benefit the Widows and Orphans Fund. The Widows and Orphans Fund responds to the needs of family members who are in need of financial support in the tragic event of a member’s death. The SDPOA Widows and Orphans Fund also provides assistance to family members in the event that they are faced with the loss of a spouse or child. http://www.sdpoa.org/.
According to SDSS Managing Member J. Terry Aston, "It was an honor and privilege to participate in the 5th annual golf tournament from which all proceeds from the event will be designated to support the needs of our local police officers and their family members. Kraig Haviland of SDSS and I were fortunate to be partnered in our golf foursome with two San Diego police officers who were superior golfers. Although we did not win a first place position, the interaction with the San Diego police officers on our team resulted in a rewarding experience. During our discussion with our teammates, we learned that SDPOA was incorporated in 1953 to assist San Diego police officers in issues related to wages, hours, and working conditions and also aids members and their families in sickness, distress and death, while striving to improve social relations and welfare among the members. SDSS is a locally owned company that takes great pride in giving back to the community, including the San Diego police officers who protect and serve our citizens.”
