Game Development Online Course Launched by College

Community Business College has added a new online course with the mission of helping people who are interested in getting started in the electronic game development industry.

Modesto, CA, July 01, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Community Business College is announcing the start of a new instructor-led, online course entitled "Get Started in Game Development." The six-week, project-based course is designed to help people with no experience in game development gain the skills they need to learn to design games in a wide variety of genres for different audiences and platforms.

According to the research conducted by analysts at Community Business College, there's never been a better time to start either a full-time or part-time career in the game development industry. Electronic games can be found on computers, through Web portals, gaming consoles, and virtually every mobile tablet and phone. Industry forecasts indicate that gaming will be worth almost $100 billion in the next two years.

Although there are different levels of proficiency in electronic game development, the process can be started at rudimentary levels with skills added on with time. This innovative course focuses on learning the fundamentals of game development and provides overviews of game development processes, devices, and the people who play them.

Frana Hamilton, Community Business College’s director of training, said, “developing electronic games can be as intellectually challenging and gratifying as playing them.” Students who complete the Getting Started in Game Development course, receive certificates of completion and are ready to start developing games for personal enjoyment or for pay.

Enrollment is now open with new class sessions starting on a monthly basis.

The "Game Development" course builds on the career exploration series of courses offered at the college which now include medical assistant, legal and dental office.

The course can also be purchased as a gift for graduation, birthdays or otherwise through the college’s gift certificate program. Community Business College also expects that this class will help improve the technical skill levels of people who live in California’s Central Valley.
