LAN Center Aims to Provide Healthy Social Environment and Life Skills for Gamers

When the World Gamer Nation LAN Center opens its doors on July 13, 2013, it will not just be a place where video games enthusiasts play video games, it will be a reinvention of the gaming stereotypes.

Greenlawn, NY, July 04, 2013 --(PR.com)-- World Gamer Nation in Greenlawn will officially open its doors July 13, 2013. This modern LAN center and internet café is aiming to be more than just a source of entertainment, but foster a positive social environment for gamers of all ages to meet, mingle, and play.

After a soft opening in early 2013, WGN has been met with steadily growing popularity in its Greenlawn location and is bracing for a large jump after its July grand opening. Much of this is a testament to its focus on social atmosphere, rather than the pay, play, and leave model of similar businesses. “We have tried to build a place that is more than just an internet café, it’s a gathering place where people can come, play some of their favorite games, socialize, and just hang out,” said Rory O’Donoghue, President of World Gamer Nation. “It’s a gamer’s coffee shop for kids from 9-99, and a safe and friendly environment to come in, get a membership, hang out and play.”

Some of the perks of membership include the ability to play any one of six retro consoles ranging from the original Nintendo to Game Cube for free, reduced hourly rates, and the ability to just come in, buy a drink and relax.

With the vastly growing popularity of multiplayer gaming, communication skills are becoming increasingly necessary to succeed in competitive games. World Gamer Nation’s LAN center takes these multiplayer interactions, which normally take place behind a headset in a home, and puts kids (and adults) face to face in a much more socially stimulating environment. Valuable life skills such as conflict resolution, communication, and time/budget management are purposely nurtured themes within the day to day operations of World Gamer Nation. And it’s become a place where parents not only send their kids, but come themselves.

“The social aspect is what sets this center apart from the numerous other places you can play video games,” said Hayes Cohen a Centerport father of one who brings his son, Max and wife Sandy to the center on an occasional family outing. “It’s cheaper than a movie, it’s more interactive than a movie, and my son is gaining valuable skills that come with face to face interaction, like negotiation, communication, and mentoring. It’s a place that I feel more parents should go with their kids and try to take part in their kids’ passions.”

The grand opening for World Gamer Nation will extend from July 13, 2013 through August 1, 2013 and will feature specials, promotional parties, and more. For more information visit http://www.worldgamernation.com.
