Portable Storage Kicks Off NFL Season

The National Portable Storage Association is helping kick off the NFL's 42nd season with suggestions for how athletic organizations large and small can tap into the convenience of containerized storage.

Kansas City, MO, August 30, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The National Football League (NFL) is kicking off its 42nd season this September with a star-studded roster that includes the likes of Peyton Manning, Randy Moss and Tiki Barber. If 42 seasons seems like a long time, consider that containerized storage has it beat by nine years.

Even though containerized storage is 51 years old, sports franchises aren't ready to retire this veteran player just yet. That's because portable storage containers can help professional sports teams out of a space crunch, offering additional square footage to store equipment, balls, bags and whatever else star athletes at any level of the game – from pee wee to pros – may need in a hurry.

"Portable storage has been serving the needs of the sports industry for years," said John Finnessy, CMP, Executive Director the National Portable Storage Association, or NPSA, a nonprofit membership association dedicated to the advancement of the portable storage industry. "When it comes to seasonal sports, universities, amateur and professional teams alike rely on portable storage containers to keep equipment safe, dry and in good shape until it's time for the next championship run."

Portable storage containers are also helpful to athletic organizations during facility remodels and expansions. When the organization is making extra room for the team, putting in new showers and lockers or even building an entirely new facility, portable storage can help sports teams out of a jam. And when the amount of gear swells faster than a sore knee after a hard tackle, portable storage can help sports teams clear the locker room for new team members instead of new equipment. Portable storage containers can even serve as temporary facilities for medical examinations. These containers can be customized with shelving, large bins, and hanging mechanisms. Once loaded, the containers can be secured for safe storage of the team's favorite pigskin.

"Portable storage is a true touchdown for sports teams and athletic departments at universities," said NPSA Operations Manager Joel Rathbone. "Soon after the football season starts, we'll see basketball and hockey season get underway and baseball season hasn't even ended yet. Portable storage is flexible enough to serve storage and even some off the temporary facility needs of sports teams both college and pro no matter whether the team uses a basketball, a bat or a puck."
