Southern Season Announces Hot Dog Eating Contest

Landmark Gourmet Food and Gifts Store Hosts Weekend Event Benefiting Share the Food Foundation

Chapel Hill, NC, July 24, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Southern Season (http://www.southernseason.com), the South’s premier destination for local and international fine food, wine, specialty gifts, cookware and cooking classes, has announced that the store will host an event celebrating National Hot Dog Month on Saturday, July 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and on Sunday, July 28, from noon to 4 p.m. at 201 S. Estes Drive. In celebration of one of America’s beloved foods, attendees can enjoy $1 hot dogs and lemonade at the store throughout the weekend.

On Sunday, patrons are invited to participate in a hot dog eating contest, limited to 10 participants. Each participant will be given 20 hot dogs with buns, and the contestant who eats the most hot dogs in 10 minutes will be declared the winner. The entry fee for this competition is $25. All proceeds from the hot dog, lemonade and entry fee sales will go directly to the Share The Food Foundation, a national nonprofit organization that aims to fight food insecurity and give children across the country access to proper nutrition for a healthy, productive life.
