The current Nye and Company contains nearly 900 lots from the tri-state area with an emphasis on English furniture and a large variety of silver.

New York, NY, August 01, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The current Nye and Company contains nearly 900 lots from the tri-state area with an emphasis on English furniture and a large variety of silver. The largest consignment is from a man who is the direct descendent of several of Massachusetts’ famous families: the Adams, America’s first political dynasty, John Alden of Mayflower fame and Captain Silas Talbot, who was a Revolutionary War hero and one of the few to hold commissions in the U.S. Army and Navy. The sale will be live on iGavelAuctions.com from July 31 to August 14th.

Many pieces of family silver are being sold, including numerous examples by Tiffany and other New York area firms. There is a huge collection of Chinese Export Porcelain, which is particularly strong in the Rose Medallion pattern. In the late 19th century, earlier family members traveled extensively around the world documenting their trips with numerous photograph albums. From these junkets are several pieces of case furniture acquired in the Far East, such as the Dutch Colonial hardwood chests-on-stand or the cast bronze figures and stone-inset Chinese side tables.

A private Morris County family bring to auction a wonderful collection of silver, smalls and furniture that when viewed all together was reminiscent of the comfortable English Country House aesthetic. Rooms were beautifully decorated with inlaid Georgian mahogany furniture, brass lighting fixtures and sporting prints. Boxes-on-stand, South Staffordshire style enamel patch boxes, sterling silver, giltwood mirrors, beautifully upholstered “soft” furniture and contemporary accessories make this collection appealing to the masses.

In early 2010, Nye and Company relocated to Bloomfield, New Jersey making them more easily accessible to New York City. Our location, on the banks of what was formerly the historic Morris canal, is moments off major interstate arties (Garden State Parkway, New Jersey Turnpike, Routes 80, 280, 287) and State Routes 3, 46 and 23.
