Mr. A Releases Two Singles in Advance of Debut Hip-Hop Album, “Self Taught”

San Francisco Rapper’s Album Combines Old-School Sampling Techniques, Live Instrumentation and Conscious, Self-Aware Lyricism.

San Francisco, CA, August 03, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Today, Mr. A released two singles off his forthcoming debut album, “Self Taught”, in September. The release features eight diverse songs that range from the Blue Scholars-inspired “Working Man’s Anthem” to the, funky, party-ready single, “Lost My Head.” Mr. A’s wordplay, lyrics and delivery reveal a deep respect for independent and more mainstream hip-hop influences, while maintaining an original style that commands respect from both casual listeners and true hip-hop fans.

In advance of the release of “Self Taught”, Mr. A has released two tracks as singles, showcasing his versatility and the spectrum of his abilities. The first track, “Lost My Head,” is a funky, party anthem that features clever sampling, live bass and a hook that compels listeners to dance as they sing along. The second song, “Never Been Through”, is a raw, honest and eyebrow-raising track that has Mr. A acknowledging his privileged, white background while emphasizing the plight of so many others who have experienced discrimination and bigotry. Featuring a sample from Mayer Hawthorne as well as live bass, guitar and vocals from collaborator Victor White, the song boldly goes into territory that many white rappers dare not venture into.
