San Diego Indie Fest Kicks Off Entertainment Weekend with Red Carpet Event on August 16th

San Diego, CA, August 13, 2013 --(PR.com)-- San Diego IndieFest is back at the NTC Promenade at Liberty Station,
with tons of grass, trees, gorgeous views of the bay and tons of free parking.

After a hiatus due to the birth of their son, San DiegoIndieFest creators/ producers Alicia Champion and Danielle LoPresti have been busy creating a renewed look and format for IndieFest 8, still featuring the kind of roster you've come to expect-filled with formidable Indie revolutionaries to excite and inspire. SDIF is still family friendly, wildly eclectic and offers a wide array of visual art, activities, film and of course, tons of music.

To take advantage of San Diego's awesome summertime weather, IndieFest has moved to August 16th-18th, and has expanded its music program to two days.

Saturday, August 17 will be the main festival day with over 75 films, bands, visualartists, comedians, dancers and poets on 6 stages. Multiple areas will still be completely free all day long: the Green Stage, the Train of Thought Open Mic Stage, the beautiful Visual Art Lanes and tons of indie artisans in between. This year's event will include headliners Cake, Talib Kweli, Best Coast, Gilbert Castellanos and Bitch just added among many other remarkable and diverse bands. Additional festivities include spoken word, interactive art, dance, comedy, indie designers, delicious food and both beer and spirits offered in the beautiful 21+ area.

Sunday, August 18, the Indie Film Stage continues for the third day and will include short films, features and Q&A with filmmakers and industry pros, concluding with an awards ceremony.

The years event will include a private VIP Industry mixer on August 15th with a Red Carpet Media Event kicking off the festival on Friday, August 16th with an after party featuring music from the MUZIK JUNKIES.

Some of the featured films this year include: "Inocente" (2013 Oscar Winner), "The Invisible War" (Dir. Kirby Dick, 2013 Oscar Nominated), "Counterpunch" (Dir. Kenneth Castillo)," "The Thick Dark Fog" (Dir. Randy Vasquez), "Breaking Night" (Dir. Yolanda Ross) and many more. Actors also scheduled to appear incude: Danny Trejo, Steven Bauer, Alvaro Orlando, Eric Roberts and Yolanda Ross and more.

"IndieFest 8 will be our biggest party yet, but its goal is the same: to lift spirits, open minds and empower people toward their most inventive, persevering selves," states event producer Danielle LoPresti.
