Scott McKay of Cherry Bekaert LLP Named to Moderate NCTA’s Emerging Tech & Trends Aug. 21 Event

Cherry Bekaert Partner to Serve As Moderator for NCTA’s Panel Discussion on the COSO Framework’s Impact on the Tech Sector.

Raleigh, NC, August 16, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Cherry Bekaert LLP (http://www.cbh.com), one of the largest accounting and consulting firms in the United States, has announced that Scott McKay, partner with the firm, will serve as the moderator for North Carolina Technology Association’s (NCTA) Emerging Tech & Trends panel discussion on compliance with the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO). The event is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at NCTA’s Research Triangle Park headquarters located at 12 Davis Drive.

The panel will feature representatives from companies that have implemented COSO within their financial and IT systems controls framework. Each panelist will discuss why they made that decision and how it has impacted their business.

Panelists scheduled to appear include:
- Matt Cleaver, senior director of financial planning, Extreme Networks
- Rick Chilton, director and chief information security officer, BlueCross and BlueShield of NC
- Prem Ranganath, director of IT and head of Infosario excellence and assurance, Quintiles

McKay recently served a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Internal Control Task Force on the new 2013 COSO Internal Control-Integrated Framework (released May 2013) where he along with other members helped the AICPA Task Force provide comment letter feedback on the new framework to COSO. McKay will be able to bring key insights on the new COSO and in particular it’s increased focus on Information Technology.
