Oceanside Care Center Celebrates Senior Citizens Day
Oceanside, NY, August 18, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Oceanside Care Center wishes all senior citizens of the community a happy, healthy and safe Senior Citizens Day this August 21st.
Senior citizens are encouraged to spend the day any way they desire, though most simply want to enjoy the presence of family and friends. Various events and activities are organized on Senior Citizens Day to raise awareness of supporting elder people and recognizing their life accomplishments. Some businesses give special discounts or deals to senior citizens on or around August 21.
Initiated in 1988 by then President Ronald Reagan, Senior Citizens Day was established to recognize the achievements and contributions our nation’s senior citizens have been responsible for and to convey the gratitude and respect of the younger generations.
“We hope that on this day of recognition and appreciation, family, friends and well-wishers of our residents will be here together, putting a smile on their loved one’s face. Since this day is not recognized widely, we hope to engage more participation within families in our community and better yet nationwide and worldwide, because our elders and their achievements are not to be forgotten,” said Kellie O’Connor, Admissions Director at Oceanside Care Center.
