Veteran Cleveland Financial Advisor Teaches Students Fiscal Responsibility

Financial planner Howard Slater, MBA, MSFS®, CFP®, ChFC®, CLU, founder and partner of Cedar Brook Financial Partners, generously volunteers to help Cleveland students.

Cleveland, OH, August 22, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Cedar Brook Financial’s Howard Slater, founding principal and a partner in the practice of Mannen, Munday, Slater and Bar-Shain, has generously volunteered his time to help Cleveland children become lifelong learners and analytical thinkers. Howard’s involvement thus far this year includes serving as a Junior Achievement Volunteer Facilitator and joining the Greater Cleveland Volunteer Association Executive Corps.

As a Junior Achievement Volunteer Facilitator, Howard participated in the organization’s JA Company Program where he worked with the entire ninth grade at the Fuchs Mizrachi School to create a company that sold products to consumers. Howard’s students launched Sock City, a company that marketed customized socks. In only a semester, the students organized, attracted shareholders, designed and developed products, and successfully sold over $1,000 in socks.

As a volunteer for the Greater Cleveland Volunteer Association Executive Corps, Howard worked one-on-one with third graders at Cleveland’s Mound Elementary School to help them improve their math and reading skills. “I’m appreciative of the opportunity to work with students who were eager to learn and improve their skills. Each student had different strengths and it was exciting to be able to build on those strengths and equip them with practical knowledge that they can use throughout these important developmental years,” explained Howard Slater.

Howard’s devotion to helping community youth continues, as he and his wife are part of College Now’s mentoring program where accomplished, degreed professionals are paired up with college Freshman to help them navigate through their education and career planning college years.
