In the Footsteps of Van Gogh Available on DVD September 24th

New York, NY, August 28, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Kultur is proud to announce the DVD release of In the Footsteps of Van Gogh available September 24, 2013.

This documentary traces the events of Van Gogh’s final years and reveals his turbulent spirit. It is ablaze with the canvases he painted between 1888 and 1890 and draws on his prolific correspondence with his brother, Theo. In a vivid combination of Vincent’s words and images, and with stunning location footage, it brings to life his time in Arles; the period he spent in the asylum at Saint-Rémy de Provence; and his last weeks in Auvers-sur-Oise.

Vincent had not had any success selling his work and the sibling relationship had become strained on account of his awkward personality. However, when he arrived in Arles and, a few months later, moved into the ‘yellow house’, he resumed his prolific correspondence with Theo.

They continued to write to each other up until Vincent committed suicide in 1890. The painter’s letters contain a detailed record of his daily life, his impressions of his surroundings, and his reflections on his art.

Illustrating extracts from these letters with his paintings and with historical location footage, this documentary traces the events of Van Gogh‘s final years and reveals his turbulent spirit.
