Richmond, VA, September 07, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Local burlesque troupe Those Freaking Weirdos is teaming up with Strangeways Brewing to present a new series of monthly shows aptly named, Brews & Burlesque. These shows will be unique in both the burlesque and local craft brew communities as the first burlesque show ever to be held in the tasting room of a brewery.

“While you almost never see a burlesque show without beer, this will be the first time burlesque has been performed in Richmond right where the beer is made,” says head producer Moxie LaBouche. A stage will be set up in front of a wall of oak barrels that serve as vessels to barrel age a variety of rare beers being concocted by Strangeways Brewing.

Those Freaking Weirdos is comprised of four performers: Moxie LaBouche (“one hot mess”), Dante the Inferno (“can you handle the heat”), Melody Magpie (“princess of the burly-cute”), and their emcee, Dev L. Ish (“properly improper”). They perform in the neo-burlesque style, which involves more gimmicks and comedy than the satin gloves and feather boas of the classic burlesque style. Each Brews & Burlesque show will also showcase a promising new performer. Music and lighting will be provided by local DJ, Jesse James Felice.

Owing to a recent change in Virginia law, craft breweries are allowed to sell their wares on-site. The tasting room at Strangeways Brewing, which opened in late May features over a half dozen varieties of beers, and will be extending its Saturday hours for the performance. Normal tasting room hours are Wednesday through Friday 4-9pm, Saturday 2-9pm and Sunday 12-5pm. Food trucks, such as Tarrant's Cafe, Boka Tako, Station 2, Mosaic, and Olio, are often on hand. Strangeways Brewing beers in short order are already being carried by nearly 100 local restaurants in the metro Richmond area. Strangeways Brewing is located at 2277A Dabney Rd / Richmond, VA 23230.

Dates for the first three Brews & Burlesque shows will be Saturday September 14, Saturday October 12 and Friday November 8. All shows being at 9pm. Tickets will be available online through www.tfwburlesque.com. Individual tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Patrons can save by buying in groups. Cash and credit/debit cards will be accepted at the door. Patrons must be 21 or older.
