Flu and Pneumonia Vaccination Offered at Good Day Pharmacy

Good Day Pharmacy has begun its fall immunization program in all nine retail store locations across Northern Colorado.

Loveland, CO, September 11, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Locally owned Good Day Pharmacy has begun its annual fall immunization program and is now in full swing, providing flu and pneumonia shots to residents in Northern Colorado communities. Good Day offers convenience to both regular prescription customers and non-regulars by offering immunizations at nine locations in seven towns (Eaton, Ft. Collins, Greeley, Johnstown, Longmont, Loveland, and Wellington) to people age 4 and older. Vaccinations are available during regular pharmacy hours and no appointment is necessary. Medicare billing alleviates out-of-pocket expenses and office visit copays for Medicare recipients.

Good Day also hosts several flu and pneumonia shot clinics for many Colorado organizations including assisted living facilities, senior living/independent living communities, and employer groups. Contact Good Day Pharmacy at 970-669-7500 x7 for details or to schedule a clinic.

The CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) has determined that vaccination is the single most effective way to prevent flu and recommends getting vaccinated as soon as vaccine is available, which is now. When a high percentage of people are vaccinated in a community, the chances of widespread outbreak in that community decrease dramatically.

The CDC recommends flu shots for everyone six months and older, and strongly encourages flu shots for people at greater risk for complications from flu. This includes adults over 65, pregnant women, children under 5, people who suffer from asthma and other chronic lung conditions, people with kidney and liver disorders, heart disease, and patients with compromised immune systems.

The pneumonia vaccine is recommended for all adults 65 or older, for those 19 or older with specific risk factors, and for children younger than 5 years old with certain risk factors. For complete lists of risk factors, visit http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd-vac/pneumo/vacc-in-short.htm .

"While Good Day Pharmacies also offer several other immunizations, our focus is on flu and pneumonia shots right now," said Karen Price, Director of Marketing for Good Day Pharmacy. Price adds, "We also offer vaccination against shingles, meningitis, whooping cough, tetanus, diphtheria, HPV, and hepatitis A and B, as well as travel vaccines."

Good Day Pharmacy was founded in 1985 and is Northern Colorado's largest independently owned pharmacy company with nine retail locations, and one specialty pharmacy serving assisted living, skilled nursing, and alternative care.
